And this is what it looked like.
I find composing a drawing for a square surface to be an interesting challenge. And I like the solid feeling of a square. That solid feeling is just right for Bear.
I bought some new paints recently, nice and bright. I’d put it off for a very long time (I’d managed to do so for years, in fact), and it was a treat to behold their vibrancy. The blue, the green, they tempted me to add more of their kind… but I didn’t want to cover over that dull pale tan of Bear’s coat, which makes such a nice contrast.
So, I added some shadows and some highlights, with markers and paint, respectively, but kept it simple. No filling in of big areas. A few areas where I strengthened the pink outlines with red ink, and it was done:
